This design was a commission request, and I loved playing with the fine lines so much that I made it an edition of two and am thinking about designing further pieces aong these lines further down the line.  The bottom piece is cut out of pale gray cardstock, the top piece is black cardstock.  The two layers are spaced with matboard around the edges and interwoven to give dimension to the piece.

Woodcarved Angel Statue

Just finished this piece, and I am thrilled with the way she turned out.  This is the first larger free-standing hardwood statue that I have completed I think ('larger' being a relative term- she is only about 8 inches high).  She can be used as a larger Christmas ornament too of course, she is just at that perfect in-between size.  :)
