Black bear

Black bear papercutting in progress- first cut on a new pattern.
Funny with this one-  I had to take the photo from a good distance away and the bear was pacing, so capturing the exact moment was tricky.  The photos I got all ended up a bit blurry with minimal detail.  I wasn't extremely happy with the pattern as I drew either, but as I have been working on cutting it, it seems to be coming to life as I go.  I think it will be great when I am done!  :)

Tree Silhouette I

Got a chance to test out a new 80-lb black linen paper that I tracked down online.  So far I love it for black paper cuttings- will have to purchase a pack of it since good papercutting black paper is VERY hard to find it seems.

The photo inspiration from this piece came from the Point Lobos seashore in California.  There are so many fascinating weathered trees out there- gives me a good excuse to go back one of these days.

New original papercutting- Anatolian Shepherd

Just finished off cutting and backing this piece- my first ever cutting of an Anatolian Shepherd!  I haven't had a chance to do a brand new rare breed in a while since I have been re-cutting sold pieces and replacing more common breeds that had sold out the previous pattern, so this one was a lot of fun to do.

Papercut pendants

These are both original patterns (the same patterns as the ornaments, except a bit smaller) designed and hand-cut by me. Each is cut from black paper, placed on a white paper oval in a silver-toned pendant tray, then covered with a domed glass cabochon.  They measure about 1.75" x 1.25" not counting the loop at the top  I will be changing the paper on the ovals and attaching all the pieces to each other over the next week and will hopefully have these pieces up on Etsy by next weekend.

Miniature cut paper ornaments

New idea!  I just finished cutting a set of two miniature papercutting ornaments.  These are both original patterns, designed and hand-cut by me.  Each is cut from black paper and is sandwiched between two pieces of glass in a mini silver-tone ornament frame that is approximately 2 inches square.  Makes a great Christmas ornament or a hanging decoration for a small space.

Next on the list- seeing if I can halve the size of these patterns and cut them as pendants- stay tuned!
