Kerry Blue Terrier papercutting

The terriers tend to be tricky to cut because of all the little pieces of short fur that go in all sorts of directions.  This guy felt like he took forever to cut, but it was worth it when he was done..  :)

Next art show- Toledo in August

My next art show of the year (and my last scheduled one as of now) is coming up in three weeks!

The 8th Annual Levis Commons Fine Art Fair
The Town Center at Levis Commons, Perrysburg, Ohio

Saturday August 18, 10am - 8pm
Sunday August 19, 11am - 5pm

For more details, you can go to the Michigan Guild's page.

If I remember right, my booth will be #13 by Coldwater Creek.  Across the commons from Starbucks, which probably means I will be in a very cheerful and perky mood most of the weekend!  ;)

Hope to see you there!

Next editions 3: Framed pieces

Both of these are edition 2/2, so final chances on both!  I switched paper colors for the second editions here- Dragonfire #1 was black paper and Peacock Nest #1 was white paper with a watercolor painted background.

Next editions 2: ACEOs

These are recuts of ACEO pieces that sold at Ann Arbor (my ACEOs are mostly editions of 5).  Some were cut at Ann Arbor during the show, some I managed to polish off in the week I have been back.  All are now up on Etsy.

Fly Away:

Little Koi:

Amoeba:

Pinwheel:

Off the Staff:

Breaking Wave:

Next editions

Some of these I sold prior to Ann Arbor and was working on re-cutting during Ann Arbor, and some I sold at Ann Arbor and got recut in the past week.  This batch are all my standard 8x10 matted cuttings with editions of 3.  All are now up on Etsy.

Ann Arbor thanks

Now that I have 10 hours of sleep under my belt and finally managed to get the car unpacked,  I wanted to write a quick post about the last 5 days before I dive into all my administrative tasks.

First of all, the Michigan Guild of Artists and Artisans who put on the Summer Art Fair portion of the show which I was exhibiting in- thank you for inviting me to the show!  As always, the organization was perfectly done and the volunteers and staff were fantastic- helpful and knowledgeable.

Secondly I want to thank the other artists I interacted with, especially my near neighbors and the other veterans who gave me advice as I was preparing for the show.  The show is much bigger than any I had done before, so the logistics were a little overwhelming- you all helped me make sense of it all, and my trip went very smoothly because of your help.

Last but certainly not least, I would like to thank the fair-goers- customers and browsers- who stopped by to look at my work or chat.  Your support is greatly appreciated, and your enthusiasm keeps me excited about doing what I do!  :)

Ann Arbor Art Fair..

.. is over and I am back home.  My Etsy shop should be back online tomorrow once I have a chance to remove the pieces that sold over this week.  Stay tuned!!

Spirit of the Forest- in progress

'Spirit of the Forest'
Work in progress.  Will probably be framed 11x14 with watercolor background when completed.  Limited cut, Edition 1/1.

It has probably been 6 months since I started cutting this piece, and I keep getting distracted by all the other things I need to get finished.  In the last couple weeks, I managed to get a bit more work done on it, and I think it is taking shape nicely.  I was thinking of making a goal to have it cut, painted, matted/framed, and ready to show by my Levis Commons show in August (Toledo/Perrysburg).  Whether I can actually make that goal or not, however, is going to be dependent on how many pieces I have to cut to replace the ones I end up selling at Ann Arbor this week.  So, I am kinda hoping I don't have time to make the goal!!  ;)

I won't be taking this piece to Ann Arbor to work on- the larger ones are a lot harder to travel with without bending or marking accidentally, and I have put enough work in on this that I don't want to take a chance on it getting damaged.  So I will be re-addressing it come Sunday when I am back in town..
