New page functionality
I just added a new link in the Links section along the right side of the page called 2013 ART SHOWS. This will take you to my Facebook page with a listing of my events and art shows for the year. A little late in the game, since I only have one show currently scheduled in the remainder of this year, but hopefully it will be more useful going forward.

Work in progress- Elephant papercutting
I just finished sketching this guy at lunch earlier this week and just got started cutting him last night, so the piece is brand new! I love cutting elephants because of all the tiny wrinkles- they give the faces such character!

Black Lotus paper sculpture, SOLD
I didn't get a chance to post pics of my new Black Lotus paper sculpture before I headed off for Ann Arbor, and since it sold there I can't give you an Etsy link.. but this is what it looked like:
Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair, 2013
The Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair is once again over for the year. I had a great show despite the weather being.. challenging for most of the week. As always, thanks to all the folks who stopped by to buy and/or chat, thanks to my fellow artists, huge thanks to the Michigan Guild of Artists and Artisans for their fantastic staff and volunteers that worked so hard to make the event go smoothly and be a success!
I tried a different panel layout for this show, with an angled 'L' in the center front of my booth to allow work to be more easily seen by people as they walk by, and allowed some of my more eye-catching work to be front and center- the first thing people see. Seemed to work out pretty well I think.

New paper sculpture- Mosaic Leaf I
This is a larger and simpler prototype for the assembled Black Lotus piece that I have in my head. I love the way curves work with scoring, folding, and the mosaic cutting- it gives it such an organic, free-flowing feel..

First cut- new Giraffe papercutting
Finished cutting the first giraffe from a new pattern I drew a while back- trying to catch up since I am currently out of giraffes and I have another show in two weeks! I also have an idea for a larger full giraffe body that would need a custom matting and framing job, but I have to make it through the next couple weeks restocking frenzy first! :)

2013 Boston Mills I
The Boston Mills art fair is over! It was a great weekend- weather was in the 70s and we kept escaping real rain by the skin of our teeth. It was a good weekend for me, sold a couple of my large 'eye-catching' pieces, so I have to scramble to come up with some new inventory in the next two weeks before I head to Michigan for the Ann Arbor art fair. Met a lot of artists I whose work I hadn't seen before, had a couple great neighbors, and met a lot of great customers too. My first time really taking advantage of having a corner space, and I think it worked out pretty well for me!
