Distractions

Not much new art-wise has been going on with me the last couple months because my schedule suddenly got a LOT more hectic with the addition of a brand-new family member. Meet Kodo:

He is a 19 week old Bernese mountain dog, brought home when he was 16 weeks. His unbiased parents think he is VERY photogenic though, so if I come out with a new BMD puppy cutting in the near future, you will know where the inspiration comes from.. ;)

I haven't been totally a slacker though- I do have a show coming up Sunday May 4th at the Moreland Hills elementary school. I have several new patterns I have designed and cut but I just haven't got the sale pieces matted, backed and posted on the finished-pieces section of my website yet. The patterns can be seen in the patterns section until that is done however. I also still hope to work up a couple more large framed pieces for this year, and do some work on the paper sculpture end as well..

Birds of Prey weekend

I got a chance to see a hawk and owl live animal program at the Rocky River Nature Center. The presentations were given by a staff member at the Lake Erie Nature and Science Center. He did a fantastic job with the information in the presentations, and it was thrilling to have live raptors only a couple feet away from me. He brought a kestrel, peregrine, red-tailed hawk, great horned owl, barred owl, and screech owl. Of course I had my camera with me and I got a couple good pictures, so I am planning on designing a couple owl and hawk papercuttings over the next couple months. Stay tuned!

A little late..

I have been soo busy lately I haven't had much time to post, so to catch up..

December 1st and 2nd I had an art show at the ArtCraft building downtown (thanks to Mark!!). It went really well for me- we were really busy all day. I only got a couple minutes at the beginning and ends of the show days to wander around and see the other fantastic artwork on display there.

Today (and hopefully tomorrow) I spent about four hours wandering around the big dog show that Cleveland holds this weekend at the I-X Center. I took a lot of wonderful dog pictures thanks to all the owners and handlers that took time to talk with me and pose their dogs for me, so I will hopefully be coming out with some great new papercuttings in the next couple months. Some of them were of dog breeds I didn't have in my inventory already, which is even better. I plan on starting in on the smooth-coated Chihuahua, Miniature Pinscher, and Pyrenean Shepherd as soon as I finish off my Christmas commissions...
